I’d waited a long time to get a shoot at Peckforton Castle. I’d heard of it, seen other Cheshire wedding photographers’ output from it, but somehow it was just passing me by. So I was hugely delighted when Rachel and Chris booked me to photograph their wedding.
Peckforton Castle is a truly amazing place. It’s not really a castle – it was built in 1844 for the 1st Baron Tollemache. Now owned by the Naylor family, it’s been used as a set for Doctor Who as well as numerous other TV appearances. But it’s as a wedding venue that it really comes into its own. Like many other grand wedding venues, it’s filled with opportunity for photographic loveliness and I can’t wait to shoot there again.
Rachel and Chris’ wedding was great fun – there were kids everywhere and Rachel looked absolutely stunning in her full length wedding gown. Unfortunately Rachel’s little girl was not in the best of moods all day, which meant that by the time we started the couple shoot, it was already getting dark, so we made full use of all that the castle has to offer in the exterior area. Just 18 minutes into the shoot, it was clear that baby needed mum, so we had to stop. I’d love to have been able to spend longer with Rachel and Chris there, but circumstances denied us.
