Every now and again, I find myself shooting weddings well out of the Liverpool area.
If driving 90 miles to Anglesey for Deborah & Marc’s wedding wasn’t far enough, the following weekend found me all the way down in Hertfordshire, in the delightfully named Shingay-cum-Wendy. Matt and Miriam’s wedding was at South Farm, the home of the Paxman family (there’s a famous one of them on the telly). Set in beautiful countryside with a rare breed pig farm on site to entertain the kids, it’s a real jewel amongst wedding venues. The day went without a hitch, culminating in a hysterical surprise appearance by Matt and his friends performing a somewhat idiosyncratic rendition of ‘Cupid’ to entertain the crowd. Very silly, but very funny too!
So, why was I booked to do a wedding so far from home? Well, the previous year, I’d photographed Matt’s brother’s wedding at Knowsley Hall. At some point in the evening party, Matt came up to me and said, “You’re totally doing my wedding too!” Naturally I was quite flattered and very pleased when the date became known and I was available. Yes, it was a trek, but it was worth it. Miriam said, “Matt and I are absolutely over the moon with the album – it’s AMAZING! Much better than I ever dreamed of and it goes without saying the photography is excellent and you brought the whole day to life again for us! I’ve gone through it a few times already and can’t wait to show it off to all of our family and friends! The front cover looks fantastic with the photo and the name/date engraved underneath – we love it! Thank you soo much for your hard work on the day and for giving us such beautiful memories to treasure.”
