I love shooting at Anfield Stadium. It’s a quirky place to have a wedding and the many that I’ve shot there have the same feature – loads of fun.
This particular Liverpool wedding had its own crazy start: Steve, a born-and-bred, dyed-in-the-wool Leeds Utd supporter, marrying his partner Janet, a born-and-bred, true red, through-and-through Liverpool supporter. The fact that Steve agreed to get married in Liverpool, and even at Anfield to boot, just shows his devotion to Janet. When I see devotion like this, it always brings a little lump to my throat.
So a lovely couple on a lovely day. This was one of the Anfield shoots where we were able to just be a little bit cheeky and actually stand on the hallowed turf, if only for 3 seconds! (I’m always very careful to check with all venues what we are and are not allowed to do – the staff at Anfield are generally very accommodating to my brides and grooms, but I can’t make any promises here!) Anfield is a really fab venue, with lots of exciting opportunities for photos. The bridal party get to do the stadium tour and sit in the dugouts – it’s really good fun. The staff team bend over backwards to make your wedding day there go without a hitch. I would even go as far as to say that they’re the best in the North West for wedding hospitality! I look forward to the next time I can shoot someone’s wedding there.
