Every January (or so – I do forget until February sometimes!) I collate my favourite shots from the previous twelve months’ worth of wedding photography in and around Liverpool.
It’s a great thing to do from several perspectives – first, it’s just lovely to revisit each wedding and remember the day I spent with such lovely people. There’s also a feeling of, “Oh yeah, nailed it!” as I go through the shots again. Finally and bizarrely, it lets me see not only how I’m progressing as a wedding photographer (we never stop learning) but also how venues change over the years. (If you’re viewing this post now, I still consider 2011 to be the year I took some of my finest shots and also the year that I decided wedding photography was definitely the career I was born for!) Principal amongst 2011’s collection for this is the model aeroplane outside the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Speke. The shot below is from the first and last time that I happily photographed it. Soon after this it was festooned in fairy lights and following that, it was torn to pieces in a gale! Anyway, here are my favourite shots from 2011. This is simply to show you just that – my best shots of the year. Naturally each wedding had many great shots – but these are what I consider to be the best from each one. 29 shots in all. I’ve tried to choose a variety of shots, but it’s interesting to see that most of them are black and white, and most of them are of the couple. Enough talking, let’s see ’em!
