Many couples will talk about how their wedding day is a dream come true – you spend so much time searching for the right wedding venue to make those dreams happen that when it all comes together, the day is simply unforgettable.

These wedding day dreams are also applicable, from time to time, to us wedding photographers from Liverpool! I have a list of all-time favourite Liverpool and Cheshire venues (which I really need to get around to blogging about one day) and many of them, I get to shoot quite regularly at. However, when it comes to venues that bit further afield, there’s a few places that, over the years, I’ve longed to do wedding photography at.

One of these places is the stunningly beautiful island of Anglesey in North Wales. I’m often there on holiday with my lovely family, and have prayed many times, “Lord, it’d be great to do a wedding here one day…”. So you can imagine my joy when Marc and Deborah booked me to photograph their September wedding day at the incredible Chateau Rhianfa near Menai Bridge. This incredible building, constructed in 1849 as a gift to the owner’s wife, (no pressure there then, guys!) epitomises the phrase, ‘Fairy tale wedding venue’. If you’re looking for a wedding venue to simply amaze all your guests, look no further than their website.

So this venue has it all – stunning views over the Menai Strait to the mountaintops of Snowdonia, beautiful period rooms and ceilings and not to mention that other non-photographic factor that scores very highly in my eyes – excellent food! The weather on Marc & Deborah’s day was gorgeous and all their guests enjoyed the drinks reception in the open air. We had a great day there too and, in spite of the distance, I’d LOVE to shoot there again one day.
