I love this time of year in my wedding photography calendar.

It’s cold and grey, yes, but it’s the start of a new year of brides and grooms to meet up with for scheduling meetings, some to meet for the first time to make that special connection with and hopefully, be chosen to photograph their amazing wedding day. And another year of my favourite kind of meeting – the post-wedding photo view! Every year, for me, begins with a real sense of hope and excitement as I think about the weddings already booked and those ones that are the mystery part of the wedding photography business; the couples whom I’m yet to meet and whose chosen venues might be new to me (Last year’s new venues included Colshaw Hall and Willington Hall, both in Cheshire). It’s also the time to reflect on last year’s efforts in wedding photography and to review each wedding shoot to bring out my favourites. And to try and write a meaningful post based on the same subject each year (not so much fun, that one!).

So, without too much further waffling, here’s my favourite shots from last year’s wedding photography shoots in Liverpool, Cheshire and Wirral. We shot in Liverpool city centre and the suburbs; the Cheshire countryside and even in a castle. Oh yes, Peckforton Castle was added to my favourite venues list at last! We shot in the bright summer sun, the winter gloom, a woodland in spring and  lots of autumn sunsets. Sometimes, thanks to malicious combinations of weather and light,  we shot nowhere but indoors. We had lots of time for couple shoots, and on more than one occasion, almost no time at all. But every shoot had its moments of wonder and joy and I’ve picked out my favourites here. You’ll be able to see more of these weddings when I blog about them but these wedding photos will do for now. Oh, and see if you can spot the wedding that appears twice – I just couldn’t choose between the two shots. One super romantic and artistic, the other just a bit bizarre and surprising!
